The Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Hydrating Lip Stain has been a highly sought out item since its release. All shades have been sold out at my local Sephora for a few months now. After travelling to three different Sephora stores, I was able to get my hands on two shades: Strawberry Sangria, and Mai Type. The way lip stains work is by using water-soluble dyes to stain the outer layer of your lips. I decided to put out my honest review of the Fenty Lip Tints, and add pictures, to show the look and feel of the product for those unsure if they want to purchase, or are just curious about it. *Fenty Beauty is also cruelty-free and vegan*.
Initial Look
Texture wise, the lip stains are very wet and shiny when first applied. I did not swipe it off after a few minutes as many people online do, as I wanted the colour to last as long as possible. The feel, initially, was similar to any other water-based lip stain, but less drying. The tint can transfer to your teeth pretty easily, but can be quickly removed with a q-tip. After about an hour, I found that the product had dried down significantly, leaving a less shiny, strong tint for approximately 3 hours.
Tips for Longevity
After 3 hours, I did find that both colours became less opaque (strongly pigmented), but I really liked the softer tint of colour. After about 5 hours, and eating and drinking with it on, I found that the tint continued to last, in particular, around the edge of my lips, creating a lip liner effect which I thought was nice. Towards the middle of my lips, I found that the colour did become more patchy and less pigmented in drier areas. To combat this, I highly suggest you exfoliate your lips prior to application, and use a lip balm after the colour has dried down if you tend to have dry lips (especially in the winter!).

Benefits
After eating and drinking, I found the lip tint had the same tint throughout the rest of the day. During my nighttime skincare, I did find the colour stayed on after cleansing, but it was very dulled out and I didn’t mind it. The shade ‘Strawberry Sangria’ has lasted me over 3 months with almost daily wear, which makes the price-point (30$ CAD) worth it for me.
Another pro to this lip-stain, is I often enjoy going for nights out and don’t like to have to carry a lip gloss with me to reapply after half an hour because I always lose them (RIP my Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plumper). The longevity of the lip stain works really well in situations where you want a pretty pigment but don’t want to reapply, for example, on dates.
In terms of colour, I found I really liked the ‘Strawberry Sangria’ shade. It lasted longer as it is darker, and I find the red colour works better for my skin tone. This shade gave a stronger lip liner effect after a few hours. The colour ‘Mai Type’ is very pretty, starting at a deep magenta pink and fades out to a soft pink. Both tones I found I was actually able to overline my lips by connecting my Cupid’s bow with the tint, which continues to be highly pigmented throughout the day.
Overall, my review of the Fenty Lip Tints concludes that the product is worth the hype and the price point, as the formula is not drying or irritating, and lasts all day. If you’re looking for a good lip tint, I highly recommend it.
Until next time!
