The Stay Golden Cosmetics Lip Kits have been trending a lot recently on TikTok. I fell in love with them after seeing the glittery lips under the back camera light, so I decided to purchase a kit. I ended up purchasing the HER Glitter Lip Kit that you can find at staygoldencosmetics.com.
The kit includes the gloss bond, a lip liner, and the sparkles with an applicator which is not too pricy for 32$ CAD. I chose the red as I typically go for bold colours.
The lip liner is a deep magenta colour and goes on the lips very smooth, which can be used for other lip combinations as well. I would say this kit is actually very easy to use for beginners or people without a steady hand who may find lip liner more difficult, as you end up covering it with the sparkles anyway.
Tips for a Perfect Application
After putting on the lip liner, I used the gloss bond. It can go on a little thick, so make sure to spread it out across your lip with the applicator if you purchase. The gloss bond can have a little bit of a gluey smell, but I found that went away when I put the glitter overtop.
I also suggest making sure your top and bottom lips don’t touch when you have the gloss bond on, as it can be a little sticky and create unevenness. The gloss bond application definitely does not have to be perfect, as you can go in and add more as I did later. I used two “dips” in the gloss bond per lip, people with bigger lips may need more product.
After the gloss bond application, you dip the sponge applicator into the sparkles and apply it to your lips. You can clean up the look using the flat brush on the opposite end of the sponge, but I found once the glue dries down (in a minute or so) it’s harder to shape.
The result is extremely sparkly lips, incomparably better than any sparkly lipgloss or lipstick I’ve tried previously. The feeling of the glitter did not cause much of a problem for me, but for individuals with texture sensitivities, it does feel like chunks of glitter stuck to your lip and can feel a little rough on the outside, especially when pursed.
The lip kit is definitely waterproof and transfer-proof, as I was able to go swimming with it on and it did not remove at all, providing for pretty pictures. Eating and drinking was okay, sometimes random glitter specks fell off but it was very minor.
The main issue I had was removal of the lip kit, due to the longevity of the sparkles on the lips, it took some effort to remove. I found that using coconut oil (any oil would work) helped a lot to remove the residue.
Overall, I could look past the texture and moderately difficult removal because the lip kit is so stunning on the lips and works great for pictures. I will probably end up purchasing more lip kit colours in the future.
Till next time,
